Summit Review 2006
By Dr Noah McKay

The Great Summit Adventure

Nothing in this universe happens by accident. Those of us who participated in the Summit came willingly and of our own accord, many of us sacrificing holiday time with our families and suffering great expense to attend. We overcame these challenges and more because an inner voice more enticing than all of the dynamic presentations, scrumptious food and lavish entertainment put together called us to be there. We came because we have chosen – and have been chosen – to play a key role in making the fusion of mind, body and spirit a reality for ourselves and for our world.

Everyone who heeded the call and came to the Summit was blessed in a special way. As responsible and accountable beings, the Summit provided each of us with a special opportunity to re-establish our individual priorities. In three short days, we solidly reaffirmed our commitment to inner peace and harmony as the foundation for all other aspects of our lives.

The morning masters sessions helped us begin our days with a proper focus on our number one priority: Healer, heal thyself! I continue to benefit each day from the Qi Gong techniques taught by Master Wai-Ching Lee and look forward to participating in Master Byck’s Ashtanga yoga sessions in the future. I have been reading his book It’s a Long Way to the Floor with great pleasure. I can recommend it to you highly. I hope future masters programmes will be expanded to include evening events. Each day brought an abundance of new information and experiences; it would be wonderful to unify these messages at the close of the day with a final masters session.

It goes with saying Michael Loh and I thoroughly enjoyed being back up dancers for the very talented Assistant Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Philippine Host Committee, Cynthia Carrion. Dancing was the secret career I never pursued, but now that Cynthia has opened my eyes to the possibilities, there is no turning back! We look forward to more live performances from Cynthia and her gifted team at SpaAsia Wellness Summit 2007 in Manila. And let’s not forget the spirited Rhonda Ann Clarke who led the Nia performances on and off stage for many delegates. I suffered with aching, cramping calf muscles for three days after her exhausting but exhilarating one-hour run, but I loved every minute of it. Thank you, Rhonda!

Each of the breakout sessions featured more than a dozen powerful exchanges for delegates to explore. For many, these intimate sessions were the highlight of the Summit – the one on one time they provided with speakers was invaluable. I’m sure others shared my frustration at being unable to attend several sessions at once. I hope that in the future recordings will be available to help us catch up on the many tantalizing sessions we missed.
