Summit Review 2006
By Dr Noah McKay

Connections
The Summit successfully compressed a year’s worth of experiences into three days, providing ample proof that the human body’s physiologic system can be sustained by spirit alone. Much to my surprise, the event’s spectacular pageantry and the free flowing exchange of energy among everyone in attendance more than compensated for bouts of sleep deprivation and space-time disorientation. Despite a grueling 18-hour flight and accompanying case of jet lag, despite snatching only a few hours sleep each night, I left the Summit feeling healthy, happy and fully recharged.

I am deeply humbled by the calibre and accomplishments of our distinguished speakers. I missed the chance to personally hug each of you and tell you how much I love you, so I am grateful for this opportunity to tell you how important your work is to the world and remind you of the countless lives that have been touched by your efforts. My special thanks to Ms. Adria Lake, Professor Mary Tabacchi, Guru Vikas Malkani and Sonu Shivdasani of Six Senses for their powerful words and works.

Adria appeared like a flash of early morning lightning awakening, empowering and illuminating us with her far-reaching wisdom and vision for the future. She was brilliant, focussed and brutally honest. Then, in the blink of an eye, and before I could spot her, she disappeared amongst her fans. I’m sure we could all use more of her mentoring.

Over the past four years I have found myself repeatedly quoting the uncannily prescient Professor Mary Tabacchi of Cornell University for her accurate and farsighted prediction of the impending merger of the spa, hospitality and hospital industries. But I never had the pleasure of meeting and knowing the real Mary Tabacchi until we met at the Summit. Professor Mary is not only the most entertaining and gifted speaker/educator in the field, she is also the most delightful, delicious and energetic human soul you will ever encounter.

Guru Vikas Malkani spoke eloquently of self-knowledge as the most important of all human endeavours. I couldn’t agree more. In his book Enlightenment Made Easy, which I am currently reading, he makes the challenging path of self-knowledge accessible to mere mortals like me. Thank you, Guru, you have done it again!

And last but not least, thank you Sonu and Eva Shivdasani of Six Senses for bringing the vital sense of awareness on global warming, toxic waste and pollution to your many clients and audiences worldwide. Your timing couldn’t be better. The future of our planet – our own future – will depend upon visionary leaders like you. I would love to see businesses in every industry adopt the flowing management principles you have shared with us and the moral clarity of the vision driving it.

My tribute to the SpaAsia Wellness Summit 2006 would be incomplete without expressing thanks to Georgia and Richard who emceed the memorable event, and most of all to the hardworking team of SpaAsia. Thank you for your dedication, your grand vision and for doing your job so well.

Those of us who attended the Summit have shared something truly special, and the energy of our interactions will continue to inspire us throughout the year ahead. It would be wrong to mistake the brevity of our physical contact with each other for the full experience; the truth is, our brief encounters with any aspect of the physical realm represent less than one per cent of the entire field of human experience. Our deeper relationships remain with us in the field of future potential.

The events of our lives are the by-products of energetic encounters inspired by our intentions, emotions and thoughts. When our thoughts and feelings are aligned with a higher purpose, our actions and human interactions are guided to higher ground. If you missed an opportunity to “connect” with someone you wanted to meet, send them love and good intentions. Even if you don’t have a business card or address, there is a very good chance they will turn up in your life again soon. That’s the way our universe communicates with itself – and on levels we do not yet fully understand, it’s the way we communicate with each other.

You may have interacted directly with one or two delegates during the Zen breaks, but atomically speaking, you were actively exchanging information with each of the 320 delegates present at the Summit even when there was no perceivable physical connection between you. Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists of all time, found it hard to believe that such a strange phenomenon could occur and dismissed it as “spooky action at a distance”. Despite Einstein’s scepticism, other scientists working in the field of quantum physics continued their research and eventually provided conclusive mathematical and experimental proof that such exchanges occur. This property is described by Bell’s Theorem of Non-Locality.

According to Bell’s Theorem, two “synchronized” delegates experience the same physiologic events – complete with reciprocal feelings, thoughts, and insights – simultaneously, no matter how great the distance between them. Whether we are in different parts of a conference hall or different parts of the planet, the effect we have on each other is simultaneous, instantaneous and dramatic.

As we grow in awareness, we will experience an increasing number of these quantum communications episodes. The hundreds of delegates who gathered at the Dusit Resort have a chance to engage in a real-life exploration of the latest discoveries in the fields of science and human consciousness. Let’s use the distance between us as an opportunity to hone our skills as activated synchronicity generators!

Imagine what can happen when 300 delegates under a single roof synchronize at the same frequency! Buckle up and hold on tight: The fun, miracles and magic are just around the corner.
